Hyundai has launched its all-new electric family SUV, the Hyundai Ioniq 9, which is based on the South Korean carmaker’s Electric Global Modular Platform. It has some commonalities with the Kia EV9 electric SUV, though that wouldn’t seem obvious when you first look at the car.
The Ioniq 9 takes a step back from the traditional boxy SUV styling and gets a rather curvy and teardrop-shaped design. It has a generous amount of pixels sprinkled all over the interior and the exterior, and there are trendy light bars at either ends of the SUV, albeit in a different alignment at the rear. The door panels resemble those of the Ioniq 5, but overall, the design looks very distinctive; in a good way!
The new Hyundai Ioniq 9 gets a large 110.3kWh battery pack and comes with multiple motor configurations. There are both RWD and AWD versions available. We’ve made a table for you to comprehend easily.
The new Ioniq 9 gets a claimed WLTP range of 620 kilometres, while the claimed EPA range is 539 kilometres. Claimed charging time from 10% to 80% is an impressive 24 minutes, though you would need a 350kW DC fast charger for the same.
In a move to provide a lounge-like experience inside, the Ioniq 9 gets rotating second-row seats that can be adjusted to face the third row. A non-exhaustive feature list includes a twin-screen curved display, massage seats, panoramic sunroof, ADAS functionalities, 10 airbags, and ambient lighting.
The Hyundai Ioniq 9 will be launched in South Korea and USA in the first half of 2025. There’s no official communication about any plans for an India launch as of now. The Ioniq 9 will be available in an extensive list of colour options including 16 exterior and 6 interior themes.
