Tata Motors has launched the new Tata Nexon iCNG in India today. It wouldn’t be unfair to call it an iconic vehicle as it brings with itself a series of firsts in the context of CNG cars in India. Here are top 5 things to know about the 2024 Tata Nexon iCNG.
The Nexon CNG is India’s first passenger vehicle to get a turbocharged petrol engine with a factory-installed CNG kit. Mahindra has already achieved this feat in the LCV category but Tata Motors has become the first to do it for passenger cars.
The 1.2-litre Revotron turbo-petrol engine comes paired to a 6-speed manual transmission, another first for a CNG-powered car in the country. We might also see the option of an AMT in the future.
The new Tata Nexon iCNG gets a voice-assisted panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, 8-speaker sound system, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree cameras and some more tech & safety features.
The Tata Nexon iCNG gets twin-cylinder technology for the CNG tanks, resulting in a boot space of 321 litres and a flat floor for convenient storage of stuff. The spare wheel is located at the underside of the car, providing easy access to it.
There are eight variants of the Tata Nexon iCNG currently available, taking the total Tata Nexon variant count up to 108. Tata Nexon CNG price ranges between Rs 8.99 lakh and Rs 14.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This also marks the first vehicle in India to be offered with options for petrol, diesel, CNG and electric powertrains.
