Nissan Magnite pros

Let’s first take a look at the new Nissan Magnite pros.

Ride quality

The ride quality of the Nissan Magnite is pleasant, especially in the city. It tackles undulations and bumps with ease. At high speeds though, it might feel a bit unstable.

Safety features

The new Nissan Magnite packs in quite a lot of safety features such as 6 airbags, ESP, auto-dimming IRVM, ISOFIX child seat mounts (should you choose to use them), a fantastic 360-degree camera setup, and more.

Cabin experience

The cabin experience in the updated Nissan Magnite has been improved with the use of better materials, notably soft touch leatherette on the dashboard, and a dual-tone theme for the overall cabin. The layout has always been appreciated and it continues to look slick. Not to forget the excellent sound system that comes with it, which is even better than what you find on cars belonging to even a segment above.

Turbo CVT powertrain

The Nissan Magnite turbo CVT is our choice of powertrain for the car. The CVT feels at home in this setup and doesn’t feel too laggy. The turbo-petrol packs in just enough power that you would need for your everyday use.

The price

Nissan has nailed the price game with the Magnite, and they did need to do so given the fact that the Magnite is currently their only breadwinner in India. After driving the Magnite extensively over a couple of months, we can assure you that it does prove to be value for money.

Nissan Magnite cons

Let’s discuss some of the new Nissan Magnite cons now.

Missing features

While the Magnite gets most of the must-haves, it misses on a few good-to-have features that Indian buyers demand in the segment, most notably a sunroof. Other misses include a sliding armrest and ventilated front seats.

Naturally aspirated petrol engine

The 1.0-litre NA petrol engine lacks power and the AMT gearbox makes the whole experience worse. You should pick the manual gearbox if you decide to go with the non-turbo unit, but we recommend you to upgrade to the turbo-petrol if your budget allows.

NVH

The NVH levels of the Magnite have been a point of concern and they continue to be so after the facelift. While the improved materials and features aim to provide a seamless cabin experience, poor insulation and NVH prevent them from doing so.

Should you consider buying one?

Even though the changes made are minimal, the Magnite does seem like a better package as compared to the outgoing model. The fact that it undercuts its rivals by a significant margin makes it a considerable choice. We do like the Magnite, but if you could push your budget a bit, upgrading to other rivals like the Brezza and Sonet won’t leave you dissatisfied.
