The Windsor is MG’s newest electric offering in India. Based on the Wuling Cloud EV that is being sold in Indonesia, the Windsor EV is built on a skateboard EV platform.
The MG Windsor EV features a curvy design and has many styling cues similar to the MG Comet EV. It gets connected light bars at the front and rear, 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, flush door handles and a dual-tone black and golden theme on the inside.
The MG Windsor EV has an impressive wheelbase of 2,700mm. It measures 1,850mm in width and 1,677mm in height. MG has not disclosed the length of the new Windsor EV, though it gets very short front and rear overhangs. Boot space is claimed to be 604 litres.
The Windsor EV gets lounge-like 135-degree multi-step reclining rear seats, ventilated front seats, a 15.6-inch infotainment system, 8.8-inch TFT instrument cluster, 9-speakers, and a large fixed glass roof. It also gets a bunch of standard safety features too, like ESC, TPMS, and 6 airbags, but there is no ADAS on offer.
The new Windsor EV is offered in three variants — Excite, Exclusive and Essence. MG Windsor EV colour options include Turquoise Green, Pearl White, Clay Beige, and Starburst Black.
If you want a Windsor EV in your garage, you’ll have to pay an upfront cost of Rs 9.99 lakh, plus Rs 3.5 for the battery for every kilometre that you drive the car. There will of course be a minimum limit that MG is yet to disclose. What are your thoughts about this Battery as a Service model?
