Hyundai India has launched a facelifted version of the Alcazar in India, giving it a host of visual and feature updates over the outgoing model. Let us figure out how the Kia Carens stands in front of the updated Hyundai Alcazar.
The Hyundai Alcazar is a longer car but the Kia Carens boasts of a longer wheelbase that translates into more space inside the cabin. Width and height of both these cars remain almost identical. The Alcazar gets bigger 17-inch and 18-inch wheel size options while the Carens has to do with 15-inch and 16-inch ones.
The Hyundai Alcazar gives a more SUV-ish vibe while the Carens looks like a comfortable family MPV. The Alcazar shares a lot of styling cues with the Creta, both on the inside as well as on the outside. On the contrary, the Carens looks quite different from the rest of the Kia cars currently on sale in India.
The Kia Carens gets more engine and transmission combinations than the Hyundai Alcazar. In addition to the 1.5-litre turbo GDi petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engines, the Carens also gets the option for 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine. Refer to the tables above for a better understanding. The Carens also offers a 6-speed iMT that the Alcazar misses out on.
The updated Hyundai Alcazar gets some interesting features like an electric boss mode, rear ventilated seats with extendable under-thigh support, Level-2 ADAS and more, which the Kia Carens does not yet offer. The facelifted Kia Carens might borrow some of these when it arrives in India.
