Max Power: 160bhp
Max Torque: 253Nm
Price: Rs 16.82-20.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Introduced earlier this year, the new Creta facelift is one of the most popular SUVs in India. Not very surprising is the fact that it comes with the options of three engine options. Out of all these, it is the 1.5-litre TGDi turbo petrol which is the most powerful in the segment and boasts a peak power of 160hp and 253Nm of peak torque. Hyundai offers a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT auto gearbox as options with this engine. There is also a Creta N Line variant that offers stiffer suspension and a better steering unit for a more enthusiastic driving feel. Interestingly, the N Line variant is the only variant that offers the 6-speed manual transmission option.

Kia Seltos
Engine: 1.5-litre turbo petrol
Max Power: 160bhp
Max Torque: 253Nm
Price: Rs 15.45-20.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
A sister car to the Hyundai Creta, the Kia Seltos was also updated last year in India. Among all the updates, the major one included the introduction of the 1.5-litre TGDi engine. It is the same engine that is shared with the new Creta as well. In fact, the peak power and torque outputs are also similar to the Creta i.e. 160hp and 253Nm. Unlike Hyundai, Kia offers the Seltos with an option of a 6-speed iMT and a 7-speed DCT gearbox. The sporty X Line variants offer matte colour options and sporty cosmetics to enhance the overall feel of the car. The Seltos is a relatively cheaper option to buy than the Creta.
Hyundai Alcazar
Engine: 1.5-litre turbo petrol
Max Power: 160bhp
Max Torque: 253Nm
Price: 18.67-20.64 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
The Alcazar is basically a stretched version of the Creta. While the Creta has been updated, the Alcazar is still based on the old model Creta SUV. But, the looks can misguide you because it is the most powerful car in its segment. Equipped with the new 1.5-litre TGDi engine, the Hyundai Alcazar also produces a peak power output of 160hp and a peak torque of 253Nm. Hyundai offers it with the option of a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT auto gearbox. The Alcazar is a practical offering with three-row seats. However, it is pending a mid-life update that is scheduled for later this year in India.
Mahindra Scorpio N
Engine: 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol
Max Power: 200bhp
Max Torque: 380Nm
Price: Rs 13.85-21.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Mahindra Scorpio N has been a huge success since its launch. With a humongous design and a stupendous suspension, the new Scorpio N offers the choices of powerful engine options. While it is the diesel engine that sells the most, the 2-litre turbo-petrol engine on the Scorpio is the most powerful under Rs 25 lakh. This engine generates 200hp and 380Nm of peak power and torque output respectively. Mahindra offers a choice of a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter auto gearbox with this engine. Sadly, there is no 4X4 option available with this engine. It is only sold with a RWD configuration.
