Outline

To be frank, choosing amongst Tata’s endless variants can be quite confusing! To put things in perspective, there are 90 variants of the Tata Nexon that are listed on the Tata Motors official website. And this does not include the EV variants, which if accounted for, would further take the count up to a hundred. Fortunately, there are only three variants of the Tata Altroz Racer, yet. In this article, we take you through these variants to help you decide the better package for yourself.

Tata Altroz Racer: What Is It?

Tata Altroz Racer, as the suffix suggests, is a look-faster, and a go-faster version of the Tata Altroz. It gets the Nexon’s 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine under the double-striped hood. Adding to the fun, it gets a 6-speed manual transmission, paired to a new hydraulic clutch. The suspension of the Altroz Racer has also been mildly retuned, to give it that sporty touch and better handling. It gets three dual-tone paint options, with racing stripes running across the middle, a blacked-out spoiler, and ‘Racer’ badges on the front fenders. On the inside, it gets orange inserts all over the dashboard, Racer branding on the front headrests, and Racer-specific stitching on the seats. The Tata Altroz Racer has been co-developed with India’s first Formula 1 racer, Narain Karthikeyan.

Which One Should You Buy?

At Rs 9.49 Lakh, the Altroz Racer R1 is a pretty-sorted package in itself, with plenty of features loaded on it. This variant should be a good fit for most. If you’re willing to spend a lakh rupees extra, you get a sunroof and a couple more creature comforts, although you might not really ‘need’ them. The Racer R3 variant gets ventilated seats at the front, which are a big plus in the hot climate that most of India experiences. Irrespective of the variant chosen, the performance of the Tata Altroz Racer remains unchanged. The decision about which variant to pick narrows down to the features that the buyer is looking for.
