New Honda Amaze pros and cons — A job well done?
- 1Gets plenty of safety features including ADAS, ESC, and ISOFIX mounts
- 2Misses on the option of a factory-fitted CNG kit
- 3Styling is heavily inspired from the City and the Elevate
The sub-4 metre sedan segment has been seeing some action lately, with updated versions of popular models being launched such as the new Maruti Dzire, new Honda Amaze, and the updated Tata Tigor. Here are the top Honda Amaze pros and cons that we believe you should consider before making a buying decision for a new sedan in India.
Honda Amaze pros

Smooth automatic powertrain
Thanks to Honda’s famed CVT gearboxes, one of which does duty on the Honda Amaze, the sedan comes out to be one of the smoothest automatics in its class. This is further accentuated by the fact that the main Honda Amaze competitors such as the Dzire and the Aura come equipped with an AMT rather than a proper automatic.
Styling

The 2025 Honda Amaze has been styled taking cues from premium Honda cars in India such as the City and the Elevate. The Amaze gets its rear inspired from the former and its front from the latter, along with retaining its recognisable muscular side profile. All of these come together to form an appealing design and make the Amaze look premium and upmarket.
List of safety features
The new Honda Amaze gets a long list of safety features, many of which are standard including 6 airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, ABS with EBD, ESP, traction control, vehicle stability assist, hill-start assist, rear parking sensors, and more. Some of the Honda Amaze safety features that are available on more expensive variants include a lane watch camera, automatic headlamps, and a Level-2 ADAS suite.

Honda Amaze cons

Missing features
In a market where features and creature comforts make up for a prominent factor in buyers’ purchasing decisions, the Honda Amaze lacks some good-to-have ones that could have made it an even more appealing proposition. Some of the missing Honda Amaze features include a sunroof, a 360-degree camera setup, and Honda being Honda — adjustable rear headrests.
Quality of materials
The quality of materials used inside the Honda Amaze interior have a lot of scope for improvement and we aren’t particularly satisfied with them. While the fit and finish levels are respectable, the quality of plastics and other materials could have been improved, giving the occupants a more premium sedan feel.

Fewer powertrain options

Honda is just offering the option of a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine on the Amaze, that can be paired to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT. The car misses on the option of a factory-fitted CNG kit, though you can get one fitted at the dealer level. There’s no option for a more powerful turbo-petrol or a more economical diesel either.
