- 1Jeep Meridian 5-seater prices clash with the Compass
- 2Jeep Compass offers more features and tech for same money
- 3Jeep Meridian offers 670 litres of boot space over the Compass
Jeep India recently launched the Meridian 5-seater in the Indian market. Specced with lower variants and less features, the Jeep Meridian 5-seater naturally comes at a much more attainable price than its more expensive 7-seater iterations. Hence, it is natural for us to draw a comparison between the updated Jeep Meridian and the Jeep Compass, since both SUVs share a lot in common. Here is the direct spec and price comparison between the Jeep Meridian and Jeep Compass.
Jeep Meridian vs Compass — Which one should you pick?
Both the Jeep Meridian and Compass share the platform and powertrain, which happens to be a 2.-litre turbocharged diesel engine. Since we are keeping a fair comparison between the two, we have picked the base Meridian Longitude variant which is comparable to the mid-spec variants of the Compass SUV. Let’s begin the comparison by comparing the diesel manual variants of both the Compass and Meridian.

Jeep Meridian Longitude Vs Compass Longitude (O)
The Jeep Meridian Longitude is its base variant priced at Rs 24.99 lakh ex-showroom, New Delhi. The variant comes only in the 5-seater configuration and falls in the price range of the Compass Longitude (O) variant priced at Rs 24.83 lakh as well as the limited edition Night Eagle (O) variant priced at Rs 25.18 lakh. If we compare the Meridian Longitude with the Compass Longitude (O), the Meridian offers features such as LED tail lights, reclining rear seats, rain sensing wipers and 6 airbags that the Compass doesn’t offer. However, the Compass offers features such as a panoramic sunroof, wireless smartphone charger and front fog lights.
It is worth mentioning that the limited Night Eagle (O) variant of the Compass offers a lot more features than both the Compass Longitude (O) and Meridian Longitude. These features include a front and rear dashcam, premium carpet mats, underbody lighting, ambient lights, a rear entertainment unit and an air purifier.
Jeep Meridian Longitude AT Vs Compass Limited (O) AT
The Jeep Meridian Longitude also offers the option of a 9-speed automatic priced at Rs 28.49 lakh that goes head on with the Compass Limited (O) AT priced at Rs 28.33 lakh ex-showroom. Between these two, the Compass clearly holds an upper hand in terms of features as it offers an 8-way powered driver’s seat with memory function, leather steering wheel, door scuff plates and an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror. However, in order to draw an apples to apples comparison, we also have to take into account the added size and practicality the Meridian has on offer over the Compass.
Jeep Meridian Vs Compass — Dimensions comparison
Between the two, the Meridian clearly holds an upper hand in terms of dimensions, thanks to its added length to boast 7-seater configuration in higher variants. The Meridian is bigger than the Compass in every dimension, including the wheelbase. Refer to the table mentioned below to have a better understanding of both SUV’s dimensions.
Dimensions | Meridian | Difference | Compass |
Length | 4768mm | 363mm | 4405mm |
