Hyundai Venue pros and cons — Some hits, some misses
- 1Gets the option for two petrol engines and a diesel engine
- 2Lacks CNG and diesel automatic powertrain options
- 3Second best selling Hyundai car in India
The Venue is the second most selling Hyundai car in India (no prizes for guessing the first one). Both Hyundai and Kia sell around 9,000-10,000 units of the Venue and Sonet, respectively, every month. What makes the Venue so popular in India? Here are the top Hyundai Venue pros and cons.
Hyundai Venue pros

Multiple powertrain options
Hyundai is known for providing a lineup of not just trims, but powertrain options as well, for most of the Hyundai cars in India. The Venue gets the option for a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine (MT), a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine (MT/DCT), and a 1.5-litre diesel engine (MT).
Stuffed with features

Another trait that is typical of Hyundai cars is the abundance of features, and the Venue is no exception. Some of the Hyundai Venue features include 6 airbags, factory-fitted dashcam, an ADAS suite, ISOFIX child seat mounts, 60:40 split function for the rear seats, and a cooled glovebox. Styling
The Venue is a pleasant car to look at and the design isn’t too polarising, unlike some other products from the carmaker, case in point being the current gen Verna and the second generation pre-facelift Creta. The Venue gets plenty of chrome on the front grille, connected rear lights, and the stance of an SUV, all of which seem to work in its favour.

Hyundai Venue cons

No CNG option
Hyundai does not offer the option for a factory-fitted CNG kit on the Venue, and some key Hyundai Venue rivals like the Tata Nexon and Maruti Brezza have an advantage in this aspect. Offering a few Hyundai Venue CNG variants would have acted as a catalyst for sales.

Rear seat space
Just like its sister car — the Kia Sonet — the Hyundai Venue falls short on rear seat space, best suited for four people on long distance travels. The comfort on these seats isn’t the best in class either.

No diesel-automatic option

There are no Hyundai Venue diesel automatic variants on offer, whereas Kia offers the option of a 6-speed torque convertor on the Sonet. The base petrol engine does not come with an automatic gearbox either.
