Ever since its launch in India, the Maruti Fronx crossover has been in consistent demand. All thanks to the strong brand value of the Suzuki’s badge, and the beautiful design of Fronx, it sells well and has crafted a niche of its own. However, like every other car, it also has its fair share of positives & negatives. Here are the top Maruti Suzuki Fronx pros and cons you must check out if you are planning to buy a new car under Rs 10 lakh soon.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx Pros

Attractive Design & Road Presence

The Fronx is a crossover that is based on the same platform as the Baleno. However, Maruti designers have successfully generated a design that is liked by all and hated by none. The overall stylish and aggressive design of Fronx is one of the major reasons behind its good sales figures. Moreover, the raised stance and bulky bonnet lines make it look like a baby SUV. All of it contributes to a good road presence, that is liked by customers.

Comfortable Ride Quality & Suspension

The suspension setup on Fronx is tuned differently than the Baleno. Hence, it provides a composed & comfortable ride quality over most of the undulations and potholes. Even on the highway, the suspension setup acts planted and the car can be driven fast with utmost confidence. Overall, it is a comfortable family crossover that can also support spirited driving at times for enthusiasts.

Practical Cabin & Comfortable Seats

While the cabin might look more or less similar to the Baleno, the Fronx is undoubtedly a practical family crossover. There are plenty of storage spaces all around the cabin and the big door pockets can easily gulp big stuff like 2-litre water bottles. Additionally, the superbly comfortable seats are made for long drives. The front seats, especially, offer segment-best cushioning, while the rear seats also offer decent support for two occupants and a child.

Versatile Engine Options

Another strong point of Fronx are its versatile engine options. Maruti offers the Fronx with three engines: a 1.2-litre petrol 4-cylinder motor sourced from Baleno, a 1.2-litre CNG engine, and a 1.0-litre turbocharged-petrol BoosterJet. The first option comes mated to either a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The second, CNG option, is offered only with a 5-speed MT gearbox. However, the third, BoosterJet engine, is offered with an option of a 5-speed MT or a 6-speed AT torque converter with paddle shifters. Hence, there is an option for every type of customer. Enthusiasts can opt for the BoosterJet, people with high annual running can opt for CNG, while budget-oriented consumers can opt for the 1.2L NA.

Strong Brand Value & After Sales Network

Last but not least, Fronx enjoys Maruti’s superbly vast service network. The reliable engine and parts of Fronx are further supported by the availability of spares, even in scarce areas. Thanks to Maruti’s trusted network, Fronx also has a high resale value when compared to its competitors. Also, the service provided by different centres is almost identical with no hiccups attached.

2024 Maruti Fronx Cons

null

Interiors Similar To Baleno

The not-so-likeable part of Fronx’s cabin is its similarity to the Baleno’s cabin. It is almost identical with no major differences. In fact, the buttons used and the cycle parts like the steering wheel, dashboard, and more, all look the same. It is only the tan highlights on the top variants that look differentiating.

Small Boot Space

Fronx has the smallest boot in its segment, i.e. 308-litre. It is very small for family use, especially, for 5 occupants. If you plan to use Fronx for longer journeys, make sure to pack accordingly as its boot can not gulp down a lot of luggage. In fact, rivals like the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite offer a much larger & spacious boot.

Costly Top Variants

Maruti has loaded the top-spec Fronx with the latest tech like HUD, a bigger 9-inch infotainment screen, LED lights, and more. However, it all comes at a cost that is not much value for money. Especially, if you plan to buy the BoosterJet engine with an automatic transmission, get ready to shell out more than Rs 15 lakh for the on-road price in Delhi. This makes it completely unjustifiable for what it offers.

Questionable Build Quality

Maruti has equipped the Fronx with safety features like 6 airbags (standard), ABS, EBD, ESP, hill-hold, 360-degree parking camera, etc. However, sit inside the car and you can easily find flimsy materials in the cabin. For example, the door pads near the power window switches are not very sturdy, as they feel delicate to pressure. There are more places inside the cabin that do not give a strong build feel to the Fronx.
