Outline

The Hyundai Creta continues to be one of the best-selling Hyundai cars in India and received a major update earlier this year. With the launch of the new model, the Creta now not only boasts fresh styling and better features but also gets updated powertrain options. Here are the top 2024 Hyundai Creta pros and cons you need to know if you are planning to soon buy a new mid-size SUV in India in 2024.

2024 Hyundai Creta Pros

Appealing New Design

Unlike the previous generation of Creta, the new iteration looks very subtle and soothing to the eyes. The 2024 Hyundai Creta will definitely appeal to most buyers with its bold styling, straight body lines and muscular front fascia. The overall design of Creta now looks like a mature avatar of the outgoing car, hence, enhancing its road presence substantially.

Improved Safety

A major area where the old model was criticised a lot was the lack of safety. While the Creta always offered standard safety features like the airbags and ABS, the newer model gets an extensive list of upgrades. For starters, the top versions come packed with ADAS Level 2 module, while the equipment like 6 airbags, electronic stability control, and all-wheel disc brakes are offered as standard across all variants.

New And More Powerful Turbo Petrol Engine

The new Creta now gets a more powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine which has replaced the older 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine. While this replacement might not sound like a massive upgrade on paper, it does offer a better driving experience in real-life conditions. The low-end torque is more than ample and the car is eager to push triple-digit speeds when revved hard through gears. Hyundai offers a 7-speed DCT gearbox for quick performance on this engine.

Feature-Loaded Cabin

Just like every other Hyundai car, the Creta comes equipped with a plethora of features. The top variants are specifically equipped with the latest features like a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, electrically adjustable seats, a new virtual cockpit with a dual-pane 10.25-inch screen setup for infotainment and instrument console, and more. The dual-zone auto climate control, ambient lighting, and driving modes selector make the cabin a breeze to operate for the drivers.

Strong Resale Value & Service Network

Hyundai’s widespread service network is a boon for customers. Certainly, Creta is a reliable SUV and that’s why it is so popular in its segment. Despite that, the extensive service network does offer peace of mind to the buyers, in incase of any breakdowns. Moreover, the repair costs are usually on the affordable side while resale value too is great for an SUV of this class.

2024 Hyundai Creta Cons

Pricey Base Variants

While the range for the Creta SUV starts at Rs 10.99 lakh, the base variants like the EX and E offer poor value for money. These variants lack essential features like a music system on the E version and rear parcel tray, rear wash & wiper, and auto AC on the EX. To purchase a reasonable feature-equipped variant, customers need to opt for the S version. While the S variant does offer all the necessary features, it is steeply priced.

Not-So-Frugal Petrol Engine

Out of the two petrol engine options, it is the 1.5-litre NA petrol engine that is more affordable and offers a more VFM package for the buyers. However, it is not a very fuel-efficient motor and rivals like the Maruti Grand Vitara & Toyota Hyryder offer far better NA petrol engines with good fuel economy. It is only on the highways that this engine can churn respectable fuel economy numbers, only if driven sedately.

Not For Enthusiasts

Even after being offered with powerful petrol & diesel engine options, the Creta is still not a driver’s delight. The steering feel is not the best while the suspension too is tuned for comfort. While the Creta may offer a great package for those looking for a perfect family SUV, hardcore enthusiasts may miss a more engaging driving experience.
