The new Hyundai Inster electric SUV was recently revealed ahead of the official debut in the coming years and boasts a promising package for buyers looking for a practical and capable electric SUV. This Hyundai Casper-based electric car will be Hyundai’s entry-level EV and is offered with two powertrain options. 2024 Hyundai Inster EV: What is it?
Based on the same platform as the Casper sub-compact city car, the new Inster EV will be slightly larger and measures 3.8 metres in length and 1.6 metres in width. Furthermore, a longer wheelbase and larger dimensions not only free up space for the underfloor battery pack but also help in offering more cabin room.

Measuring slightly shorter than the Citroën eC3, this new entry-level Hyundai electric car will feature versatile interiors with individual four seats that can be folded completely flat. The two rear seats can be slid and reclined to maximise legroom or boot space.
In terms of design, the new Inster EV will retain a boxy styling dominated by a bold front fascia and a tall-boy-like stance. The large, round headlights, similar to those of the Casper, are also seen on the Inster, while the rear quarter might remind you of other larger Hyundai SUVs.

2024 Hyundai Inster battery and range
Hyundai has confirmed that the new 2024 Inster EV will be offered with a choice of two powertrain options. While the entry-level variants will get a 96hp front-mounted electric motor, the range-topping, ‘long-range’ Inster will get a 113hp motor. For those wondering, a 42kWh battery pack with a claimed range of around 300km is offered with the less powerful motor. The higher-spec versions however get a 49kWh battery pack with a claimed range of around 350km on a single charge.

How fast is it?
While detailed specifications of the Inster EV are yet to be revealed, the Korean carmaker claims that the lower-spec versions of the Inster can do a 0-100kmph run in just 11.7 seconds while the higher versions on the other hand, with a 113hp motor, can do the same run in just 10.6 seconds.
Features and tech
Hyundai cars are often offered with a long list of features and all modern bells and whistles. Expect the Inster EV to be no different and on par to what the competition offers. For starters, the new Hyundai Inster EV will get a pair of 10.25-inch displays (one for the instrument panel and the other for the instrument console), a smartphone-based key, automatic climate control, multiple charging ports and a wireless charging pad. The Hyundai Inster EV safety features include a 360-degree parking camera, adaptive cruise control, blindspot monitoring system and other standard features like six airbags, ABS, EBD and more.

Hyundai Inster India launch
Hyundai India is likely to expand its Indian portfolio with a number of new electric cars including the much-awaited Hyundai Creta EV which was recently spied testing in India. While the official launch timeline of the new Hyundai Inster EV is still awaited, we expect Hyundai to bring it to the Indian shores somewhere next year. If launched, the Hyundai Inster EV will take on other affordable electric SUVs like the Tata Punch EV and the Citroen eC3.
