What Is This Joint Venture Between Mitsubishi & TVS?
The joint venture that happened back in February, aims at selling cars, trucks, and other auto products in India. Basically, TVS Mobility is a branch of TVS Corp that handles the showrooms for multiple auto brands including Honda, Renault, and Mahindra in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. TVS Mobility handles the showroom hygiene to ensure a beneficial module for the different brands.

Mitsubishi Corp, the parent company of Mitsubishi Motors, has now invested Rs 300 crore into this business. After this move, Mitsubishi now owns a 32 per cent stake in TVS Mobility’s business. But why? Well, Mitsubishi Corp handles business for different auto firms in Japan. With the new joint venture, Mitsubishi wants to pull more Japanese brands and sub-brands in India. This is to expand the portfolio of Japanese automakers in the Indian market.
Pajero, Lancer Return To India Not Confirmed
As this partnership aims only to expand the portfolio of other brands, it is highly unlikely that the Mitsubishi cars will return to India. However, we’re not completely denying it because TVS Mobility will have access to brand facilities like Renault-Nissan. It is worth noting the fact that setting up individual showrooms is not a big deal for either of the two brands. Mitsubishi, however, is not considering bringing any new products to India.
