Outline

Volvo Cars India has officially announced the XC90 facelift India launch date. The Volvo XC90 facelift was revealed in the global market in 2024 with a fresh design and a new set of features, which was crucial for a level-playing field with the competition. In this article, we share what all has been changed with the updated Volvo XC90 facelift.

Fresh design

Like all facelifts go, the Volvo XC90 facelift gets an enhanced design, which shockingly doesn’t look all that different from the outgoing model. Case in point, the XC90 has not evolved much from its first launch, that took place back in 2002. The second-generation XC90 facelift brings fresh design cues in form of a redesigned front grille, sleeker LED headlights, reprofiled bumpers and a new set of alloy wheels. Overall, the XC90 facelift brings an evolutionary retouch to the design of the SUV, which has always been likeable.

Updated interior

Like the exterior, the changes on the inside are minimal but help to amp up the experience with new tech and improved practicality The highlight of the updated interior is the new free-standing 11.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system that offers in-built Google Maps and third-party app support. Furthermore, the dashboard is now draped in new materials that are said to be sustainable and more premium than before. In addition, Volvo has also improved the storage options on the centre console while retaining the minimalist layout.

Loaded with features

On the features front, the updated Volvo XC90 facelift comes loaded with features such as Bowers and Wilkins sound system drive modes, LED headlights, powered seats, panoramic sunroof, multi-zone climate control and more. In addition, Volvo has also updated the adaptive air suspension in the XC90, which now monitors the road surface 500 times a second and adapts to the driving condition in real time to offer a seamless experience.

Plug-in-hybrid launch likely

The Volvo XC90 facelift will continue to offer a turbocharged petrol engine mated to a 48V mild-hybrid powertrain. However, the India-spec model could also offer the option of a plug-in-hybrid this time around. The plug-in-hybrid XC90, called the T8, uses a turbocharged petrol engine and a 19kWh battery pack, which enables it to drive only on battery power for over 90km on a single charge. The XC90 T8 also offers good performance, with the combined system output reaching 455PS and 709Nm of torque.
