VinFast VF 3 India launch confirmed — MG Comet EV rival?

VinFast India, which happens to be the latest entrant in the Indian automotive landscape, debuted at the Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo 2025. Committing to an investment of Rs 500 crore in Tamil Nadu, the carmaker has lined up two of its global cars for India launch in the year 2025—the VF 6 and VF 7. A new media report now confirms VinFast’s plans to launch the VF 3—its smallest EV—in the Indian market. Read on to know more about the VinFast VF 3 and its India launch timeline.

VinFast VF 3 India launch confirmed?

VinFast has officially confirmed its plan to launch the VF 3 in the Indian market, and it was present at the pavilion at the Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo 2025. The VF 3 is VinFast’s smallest electric vehicle and carries a 2-door body configuration. Looking at it, it is believed to go up against the likes of the MG Comet EV, another quirky 2-door electric vehicle.

The VF 3 carries a boxy bodystyle with rugged SUV-like looks and silhouette. Despite being compact, the VF 3 looks big thanks to the presence of body cladding all around and tall ground clearance. The model that was showcased at the auto show was bare-bone, devoid of any feel-good features like alloy wheels. However, when launched in India, we expect VinFast to position the VF 3 as a lifestyle product and cram more features inside-out to make it feel more premium.

VinFast VF 3 specifications

Talking about the VinFast VF 3 specifications, it carries a small 18.64kWh battery pack that channels power to a single electric motor mounted at the rear axle. Its electric motor puts out 41PS of power and 110Nm of torque. Furthermore, the global model offers a claimed range of 215km and can be charged from 10-70% in 36 minutes. It remains to be seen whether the India-spec VinFast VF 3 gets different specifications or carry the same setup. In comparison to the MG Comet EV, the VinFast VF 3 is very similar to the Comet EV in terms of body style, practicality and specifications.

VinFast VF 3 India launch timeline

VinFast will begin its India innings with the launch of the VF 6 and VF 7 in 2025. The VinFast VF 3 launch, on the other hand, is likely to take place in 2026. Like the VF 6 and VF 7, the VF 3 is also likely to come to the Indian market via the CKD route and assembled in the carmaker’s Tamil Nadu assembly plant.
