Upcoming Tata Nexon CNG Launch Timeline Revealed

Tata Motors revealed the Nexon CNG at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2024 with the famous twin CNG cylinder technology. A new report claims to have revealed the Tata Nexon CNG SUV launch timeline, which is going to be India’s first CNG car with a turbocharged petrol engine. Tata Nexon CNG India Launch Timeline

As per the new report, Tata Motors will launch the Nexon CNG in September 2024. Launching new products ahead of the festive season is a regular practice from carmakers, in order to increase footfall in the dealerships and boost sales of both existing and new products. The Nexon is already one of the best selling SUVs in the country and the introduction of a CNG powertrain will further enhance its appeal to the prospective buyers in its segment.

Tata Nexon CNG Expected Engine Specifications

As we mentioned earlier, the Nexon CNG is going to be the first turbocharged CNG model to be available in the Indian market. The power from the turbocharged petrol engine along with the practicality of the twin CNG cylinder configuration should contribute to a sensible package for the onlookers in this segment. Currently, the Nexon comes with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 120PS of power and 170Nm of torque. 

Needless to say, the CNG fuel option will decrease both power and torque outputs while enhancing fuel efficiency. Tata Motors are yet to reveal the Nexon CNG engine specifications and since there is no other CNG model available in the market, it is hard for us to judge the loss of power and torque with the CNG fuel. Furthermore, while the Nexon petrol comes with a choice of manual, AMT and DCT transmission options, we expect the Nexon CNG to come only with the manual transmission, at least initially.

Tata Nexon CNG Expected Features

Based on the previous Tata CNG car launches, we expect Tata Motors to offer the Nexon CNG across its variant lineup. That means that the Nexon CNG will come brimmed with features such as a 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, 360-degree parking camera, front and rear armrests, wireless smartphone charger and front ventilated seats.
