Upcoming Tata Nexon CNG AMT Variant Confirmed? Top Things To Know
- 1Set to be Tata’s third CNG car to get an auto’ gearbox
- 2Will feature a dual-cylinder technology to save space
- 3Likely to be launched in September
The Tata Nexon is a remarkable car. Yes, we have reasons to back this statement. Once launched in the CNG version, the Nexon will be the first car in India to offer four fuel options — petrol, diesel, electricity, and CNG. It’ll also be the country’s first CNG with a turbocharged petrol engine. Not to forget that it has been a chartbuster for Tata, with Tata selling 7 lakh units in seven years. Alright, enough of eulogising. Let’s get to the matter at hand.
Tata Nexon iCNG Gearbox Options
The upcoming Tata Nexon iCNG will reportedly get two options for the transmission — a manual and an AMT, just like the Tata Tigor and Tata Tiago recently did. Once launched, it will be the third Tata CNG automatic car in India.
First Automatic CNG SUV In India
Apart from being the first CNG car in India to get a turbo-petrol and one of the first ones to get an automatic gearbox, the Tata Nexon iCNG will pack in more innovative technology from Tata. As seen at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2023 earlier this year, the 2024 Tata Nexon iCNG will feature smaller dual cylinders instead of one big cylinder that gobbles up your entire boot space. There’ll be room for luggage and a spare wheel at the bottom.

2024 Tata Nexon CNG Launch Date
The Tata Nexon iCNG launch is likely to take place soon after the launch of the upcoming Tata Curvv ICE. Tata is launching the petrol and diesel variants of the Tata Curvv on September 2, 2024. They are actively considering the possibility of a CNG version of the Tata Curvv as well.
