Skoda is going to unveil its first sub-compact SUV in India — Skoda Kylaq — to go head-on with rivals such as the Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Tata Nexon. While Skoda will take the wraps off the Kylaq on November 6, spy shots of the same have started surfacing on the web. Here’s what we could see on what looked like the base-spec trim of the upcoming Skoda Kylaq that was spotted by a Marathi automotive page.
Skoda Kylaq sub-compact SUV
The Kylaq is set to mark Skoda’s entry into the booming sub-compact SUV market. Based on the MQB-A0-IN platform that has been tailored for the Indian market, the Kylaq will come with VW’s 1.0-litre TSI engine that also does duty on other mass market Volkswagen and Skoda cars in India.

Upcoming Skoda Kylaq spied
The Skoda Kylaq test mule that was recently spied seems to be the base-spec variant of the car, featuring 16-inch steel wheels with black wheel covers. The rest of the exterior was totally camouflaged. Interior shots reveal that the base variant is likely to skip on any sort of infotainment screen, though the provision of installing an aftermarket system would be provided. Other visible parts include a 6-speed manual gear shifter, analogue instrument panel, manual parking brake, disc brakes at the front, drums at the rear, and fabric upholstery for the seats.

Kylaq design
The spied unit was disguised under camouflage, but we could make out some of the exterior design characteristics of the upcoming Kylaq sub-compact SUV. It will feature a split LED headlight design, with LED DRLs sitting atop the headlight clusters connected to Skoda’s signature radiator grille. The rear will feature LED lights as well, complemented by SKODA lettering on the boot lid, akin to the Skoda Kushaq.
