There have been reports every now and then about the upcoming new gen Renault Duster in India, and recent news is that it might also get a hybrid powertrain. Might get a 1.6-litre petrol-hybrid setup

Renault sells the Duster with a variety of powertrain options in global markets, including LPG, petrol, as well as hybrid. While it is natural there’ll be a pure ICE option on offer, we might also see a hybrid Renault Duster coming our way, and Autocar India has also reported the same in a recent story. It might be powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine mated to a pair of electric motors with a combined system output of 142PS.

Nissan-Renault’s CMF-B platform

The global-spec Duster is based on the new CMF-B platform, which is a modular platform jointly developed by Nissan and Renault, and it underpins some of their global cars and SUVs. While the India-spec Duster is expected to get some major changes, it is likely to be based on the same platform as the global-spec model.

The latest generation of the Renault Duster has a stark resemblance to the original SUV when viewed from the front three-quarters. The front face features a new grille design and irregular triads in the lights. The rear has been more squared-off and the lights match the ones on the front.

On the inside, there’s a dual-layered dashboard with a central touchscreen that’s slightly tilted towards the driver. The triads from the headlights can also be seen on the air-con vents. Upcoming Renault Duster India launch 

The new Renault Duster launch in India might take place by the end of this year or sometime next year. The carmaker hasn’t confirmed any timelines yet. Key Renault Duster rivals will include the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, and other popular compact SUVs in India.
