Renault is currently working on the new-gen Duster SUV. While the Duster caters the mid-size SUV segment, a new 7-seater SUV based on Duster is also under works. Spied closely this time road testing in Europe, this upcoming SUV is likely to be badged ‘Bigster’ and will have a lot of things in common with the Duster. Renault Bigster SUV: What Do We Know So Far?

 

The Duster SUV was one of the most-renowned product of its segment. While it remains on sale in select global markets, the Indian market saw its discontinuation. However, this situation is expected to change by the end of 2025. Renault is currently working on the new-gen Duster which is likely to launch in second half of 2025. There are going to be two different iterations of the new platform. The first will be called Duster that will be based on a 5-seater layout while the another will be called Bigster which will support 6/7-seater layout.

Spied recently road testing in Europe, the camouflaged test mule gave away a lot of hints in terms of what to expect. Firstly, its design will be bulky and it’ll have a lot of straight and sharp panels. The front will get LED headlights with a connected LED bar above the grille. The side profile will get big 18-inch alloy wheels and lengthened-out body that will look similar to the upcoming 2025 Duster. The rear profile will also be more or less similar to the new-gen Duster but Renault might add up a few elements like a different bumper, to give it a distinguished look from the Duster.

Renault Duster 7 Seater Features

 

Feature-wise, we anticipate that it’ll get modern tech like 360-degree parking camera, electric panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered seats, and much more. There is also a possibility that the second-row seats can get an optional captain seating arrangement. Hence, the Bigster could be offered in either a 6 or a 7-seat layout.

Globally, the current-gen Duster is sold with three engine options; all of them being petrol. The Indian versions will most likely get a 1.6-litre 48V mild-hybrid engine and a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine options. The diesel engine is out of the frame as Renault has discontinued it globally. Moreover, there will be an option of an AWD powertrain as expected and rumoured over the internet. The company is believed to be evaluating the production for these SUVs in India currently. 

 

New-Gen Renault Duster Launch In India

 

The new-gen Duster and Bigster will debut in the global markets by the first-half of 2025, while the Indian market might witness the launch by Diwali 2025. Once launched, the Bigster SUV will rival with Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, and MG Hector Plus. This upcoming SUV might be priced around Rs 16-22 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
