Upcoming Mahindra Scorpio N pickup truck spied — Top 5 things to expect

A pickup truck based on the current generation Mahindra Scorpio N has been spied in India once again. While the test mule was disguised under a wrap, we could make out some of its characteristics such as a seemingly longer wheelbase and a single cab configuration. In this story, we’ll discuss the top 5 things to expect from the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio N pickup truck.

Mahindra Scorpio Pik Up 

The Scorpio N-based pickup truck was first showcased as a concept named as the Mahindra Global Pik Up. A test mule of what looks like a near-to-production version of the truck was spotted later last year, and one has just been spotted this week. Here are the top 5 things to expect about the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio N-based pickup truck.

Longer wheelbase

As the pictures suggest, the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio pickup truck seems to have a longer wheelbase than the passenger SUV which is currently on sale. The wheels seem to be of the same size though, and their design is identical to those offered on the SUV as well.

Single cab configuration

The test mule that was spied features a single cab, that is, a single row of seats inside the cabin in addition to the loading bed behind. Some pickup trucks such as the Toyota Hilux have two rows of seating as well as four doors, but the Scorpio N-based pickup is likely to have just two doors with a single row of seats. Notably, the Global Pik Up concept had a double cab configuration.

Global model

The new Mahindra Scorpio pickup truck will be a global model and is expected to be sold in markets such as Australia and certain African countries. It is unlikely that the Scorpio N pickup truck will be up for sale in India. Interestingly, a pickup truck based on the Scorpio Classic, known as the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway, was once available in the Indian market, but it has now been discontinued.

Same dashboard

While there are noticeable differences on the exterior as compared to the Scorpio N SUV, the interior is likely to be more or less similar to the passenger SUV and not feature a distinct layout. There might be a few feature misses on the pickup truck though. 

Diesel powertrain and 4X4 configuration

The Scorpio N pickup truck is expected to be powered by the same 2.2-litre diesel engine that does duty on the current Mahindra Scorpio N SUV. It might also come with a 4X4 system as standard. We still await confirmation about the Mahindra Scorpio N pickup truck powertrain specifications from the manufacturer though.
