Kia has announced the date of unveiling of its much-anticipated pick-up truck, the Kia Tasman. The Tasman is set to be Kia’s first pick-up truck globally, and is planned to be launched initially in some Middle Eastern markets, certain African countries, Australia, and South Korea. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Kia Tasman truck.
Upcoming Kia Tasman
The Kia Tasman will be Kia’s first-ever pick-up truck to be launched globally. While Kia has been secretive about most of its key details, we did get to see some glimpses of the Tasman in the teaser video that it has released online. The Tasman is expected to be based on a ladder-on-frame chassis, unlike the Hyundai Santa Cruz.
Expected powertrain
The Tasman is expected to be powered by Kia’s 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine that can also be seen on other Kia models around the world. There have been no details from Kia on this front though. There is also an electric version of the upcoming Tasman truck that is likely to make its way to the markets by 2027 as part of Kia’s electrification plans.

Design
The teaser video reveals a classic boxy style with vertically-stacked LED headlamps like the ones seen on the new Kia Carnival MPV. It also gets boxy wheel arches and angular LED tail lamps. A large KIA logo can be seen embossed into the tailgate that sits above the TASMAN badging. We shall be able to see a full fledged first look at the Tasman on the date of its unveiling.

Kia Tasman release date
Kia has announced that it will unveil the Tasman pick-up truck on October 29, 2024 at the Jeddah International Motor Show in Saudi Arabia. It shall first go up on sale in certain South African and Middle Eastern countries, along with Australia and its home market — South Korea.
