Kia Carnival bookings milestone
As reported previously, Kia had announced that it will be opening bookings for the upcoming Kia Carnival MPV on September 16, 2024; which was yesterday. Kia has today revealed that it has so far secured 1,822 bookings, which is quite impressive for an MPV that is expected to be priced northward of Rs 50 lakh. Moreover, this surpasses the number of bookings that the previous generation got in the same time frame. Kia had set Rs 2 lakh as the booking amount for the new generation Kia Carnival.

New Kia Carnival engine and transmission
Kia India has not yet released details about the powertrain of the upcoming Carnival, though we expect it to retain the 2.2-litre diesel engine that it used to come with before it got discontinued. This engine will obviously be compliant with the current Bharat Stage 6 emission standards. Globally, this generation of the Kia Carnival also comes with a 1.6-litre turbocharged-hybrid powertrain and a sweet 3.5-litre V6. Alas, we don’t have high expectations of seeing any of these powertrains making their way to India.
Exterior design updates
The new-generation Kia Carnival shares its design cues with Kia’s latest products. Some notable design changes over the previous model include sleek LED headlights with arrow-shaped LED DRLs, a redesigned tiger nose kidney grille, new bumpers, and connected LED tail lights. The new Carnival retains the signature electronically sliding rear doors for easy ingress and egress for the rear passengers. Just like the past, we expect Kia India to offer the new Carnival in multiple seating options.
