Toyota Land Cruiser India launch details — Top things to expect!

It’s no secret that Toyota is considering the Land Cruiser Prado India launch, as also revealed by multiple reports. While the Land Cruiser Prado was not showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo 2025, a few spy shots recently revealed a Prado SUV loaded on a flatbed during a transit. Read on to know more about the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado India launch and the top things to expect from the baby Land Cruiser.

Toyota Land Cruiser Prado spotted in India

The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado was recently spotted on Indian roads during its transit to what’s assumed to be Bhutan. This very information would have nullified the story, if there was no concrete information about its India launch. But there is. The Land Cruiser Prado is said to be launched in India in the second half of 2025. The offroader is already on sale in multiple countries under multiple names—Land Cruiser, Land Cruiser Prado and Land Cruiser 250.

The model that was spotted in India seems to be the Australian-spec model and specced with the top Kakadu trim, given the presence of a vertically-stacked radiator grille and a sunroof. Given the prior models of the Land Cruiser in India, we expect the Prado to also come in its fully kitted out variant. A few notable details about its exterior include LED headlights, 20-inch black alloy wheels, roof rails and LED tail lights.

The interior pictures confirmed that the model spotted was indeed the fully kitted-out variant. The key highlights of the new Land Cruiser Prado include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, drive modes, automatic climate control, surround view camera, heated and ventilated first- and second-row seats, powered front seats and more. Furthermore, the Prado comes with both 5- and 7-seater configurations but the details about the India-spec model’s configurations are yet to be determined.

India-spec Toyota Land Cruiser Prado engine details

The Land Cruiser Prado gets the same 2.8-litre diesel engine that also powers the Toyota Fortuner. The 2.8-litre diesel engine is offered in multiple global markets including Japan and Australia. However, other global markets like North America offer the option of a 2.4-litre hybrid powertrain but that is not likely to make its way to the Indian market. Toyota has previously given preference to diesel engines in its premium cars like the Land Cruiser LC300 as well as the Lexus LX and the same seems to be the case with the upcoming Prado.
