The Suzuki-Toyota partnership has been reaping fruits for Toyota India with their sales constantly on the rise owing to the shared models between the two carmakers. While Maruti Suzuki shall also benefit from Toyota’s technology in the near future, Toyota has already started to hit milestones that seemed distant earlier, particularly those relating to their car sales in India. Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder was the first product that was jointly developed by Toyota and Maruti Suzuki. It comes in a variety of powertrain options including petrol, hybrid, and CNG. The Urban Cruiser Hyryder is underpinned by Suzuki’s Global C platform, and Suzuki also sells a rebadged version of the Hyryder known as the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, which outdoes the Hyryder in terms of sales.

Hyryder sales milestone

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder has crossed the sales milestone of 1 lakh units since its launch in September 2022. Toyota reached this impressive figure in just two years of sales. It is to be noted that this reflects the number of units dispatched to dealerships and the actual number of units sold to customers might vary. Nonetheless, the Hyryder becomes the second rebadged car to achieve this feat after the Toyota Glanza (Toyota’s version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno).

Toyota Hyryder powertrains

The Hyryder is available in a variety of powertrain options — a Maruti Suzuki-sourced 1.5-litre petrol engine, which can also be purchased with a factory-fitted CNG kit, and a 1.5-litre Toyota-sourced strong hybrid engine. A choice of both manual and automatic transmission options are available with the petrol engine, along with the option of an all-wheel drive configuration. The strong hybrid, however, can be had in just a 2WD configuration with an e-Drive transmission. It delivers a superb fuel economy though, which makes it a go-to choice for people who cover lots of kilometres around the year.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder feature list includes ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, tilt and telescopic-adjustable steering wheel, head-up display, paddle shifters, LED headlamps and rear lights, ARKAMYS-tuned sound system with 6 speakers, panoramic sunroof, cruise control, and more. Safety features are also offered in plenty, with ABS, EBS, reverse parking sensors, reverse parking camera, ISOFIX child seat mounts, vehicle stability control, hill-hold control, and more, as standard. Higher variants get 6 airbags, hill-descent control, 360-degree cameras, and TPMS, too.

2024 Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder price in India

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder price in India starts at Rs 11.14 lakh for the petrol variants, Rs 13.71 lakh for the CNG variants, and Rs 16.66 lakh for the hybrid variants. The Hyryder maxes out at Rs 19.99 lakh for the top-spec hybrid model. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom, Delhi.
