With the demand for diesels slowly dying in India, most manufacturers are actively updating their portfolios to suit the diverse requirements of Indian buyers. While we saw multiple brands bidding high on alternative powertrain options like hybrid, CNG and electric, petrol powertrains are still enjoying the highest demand. As we look ahead to 2024, several exciting cars are set to hit the Indian market and here is a list of the top 5 upcoming petrol cars in India in 2024 everyone is waiting for.

New Maruti Suzuki Dzire

null

Expected Price: Rs 7-7.5 lakh

Expected Launch: Aug-September
Engine: 1.2-litre Z Series

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire is currently one of the most popular sedans under Rs 10 lakh in India and the brand is likely to launch the updated 2024 model somewhere around August, during the festive season. From what we know so far, the new Maruti Dzire will feature extensive cosmetic updates and a revamped dashboard layout, along with a host of new features, including a segment-first sunroof.

Under the hood, the new Dzire will share the 1.2-litre Z series petrol engine with the recently launched Maruti Swift. This engine promises improved performance and efficiency and will be available with two gearbox options: a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. More details about the new Dzire's specifications and features are awaited.

Next-Gen Honda Amaze

Honda Amaze new-gen 2024

Expected Price: Rs 7.5-8 lakh

Expected Launch: Aug-September
Engine: 1.2-litre i-VTEC

It's been a significant time since the current-gen model of the Honda Amaze made its debut in the Indian market and the Japanese carmaker is said to be gearing up for the launch of the new-gen Amaze later this year. To be positioned as a direct rival to the Hyundai Aura and the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, the new 2024 Amaze will boast a long list of updates including a revised exterior styling which might remind us of the larger Honda sedans on sale in the global markets, a new dashboard layout with a free-standing infotainment system, digital instrument console and a number of other features to uplift the overall experience and improved safety features.

While the 2024 Amaze is likely to get the same 1.2-litre i-VTEC motor that is offered with the current generation model, it will be underpinned by a new platform derived from that of the City and the Elevate. The new platform will not only offer improved dynamics but is also likely to deliver a better ride quality than before.

Tata Curvv

Expected Price: Rs 12-13 lakh

Expected Launch: Late 2024-Early 2025
Engine: 1.2-litre turbo petrol

Often regarded as one of the most awaited Tata upcoming cars in India, the Tata Curvv petrol is scheduled for a launch late this year after the launch of the EV version. To be positioned above the Nexon in Tata’s portfolio, the new Curvv will initially be launched as an electric-only car around the festive season followed by the launch of the ICE versions later. The Curvv will also be the brand’s first coupe SUV in India and will boast a high-ground clearance with a notchback-styled boot and sloping roofline. Inside, the Curvv will boast an elegant and minimal design for the dashboard along with other features like a digital instrument console, touch-operable climate control system, 360-degree camera and a large sunroof.

Under the hood, the Tata Curvv petrol will get Tata’s new 1.2-litre direct-injection petrol engine which is claimed to deliver 125hp. This engine is likely to be offered with manual as well as automatic gearbox options. The brand will also be offering the new Curvv with electric as well as diesel powertrains. For those wondering, the Tata Curvv price is likely to start from Rs 12-13 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Mahindra Thar 5-door will finally make its debut this year and was recently spied in its production-ready avatar. Likely to be called the Thar Armada, this new Mahindra SUV will be available only in the hard-top body style and will boast a similar exterior styling as the 3-door Thar. Inside, we expect the brand to offer a new 10.25-inch infotainment system along with a number of other features like rear AC vents, a fully digital instrument cluster, single-pane sunroof, cruise control, automatic climate control and push-button engine start/stop that will improve the overall in-cabin experience.

Just like the three-door iteration, the 5-door Thar petrol will also boast the same 2.0-litre mStallion motor which comes paired with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox. The diesel versions of the SUV will also use the same 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. While it will be offered with a 4WD setup as standard, a few versions might also get an RWD powertrain.

From what we know so far, the new Alacazar facelift will boast a number of changes to differentiate it from the new Creta. For starters, it will get a redesigned front fascia with a larger grille, split headlights and new alloy wheels. Subtle updates including a revised bumper design, new tail lights, and some new chrome elements are likely to be seen at the rear.

Inside, the new Alcazar facelift is likely to boast a similar dashboard layout as the Creta facelift including the dual-screen layout for the infotainment and instrument cluster. Other than this, the new Alcazar is also likely to get ADAS safety features.
