When it comes to the top SUVs, the Hyundai Creta is undoubtedly a standout choice. Following its facelift in January last year, it's no surprise that the Creta has soared in popularity, solidifying its status as a leading SUV model. In September 2023, it recorded 12,717 unit sales, which jumped to 15,902 units in September 2024, marking an impressive year-on-year growth of 25.05%.

Currently, the Creta is priced between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 20.30 lakh. It offers three engine options: a 1.5-litre Naturally Aspirated Petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol, and a 1.5-litre Diesel. This combination of features and performance has made it one of the top SUV cars in India, frequently appearing in the top 5 SUV models in India.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza sales in September 2024

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza ranks second on the list of top SUV cars in India, with prices starting from Rs 8.34 lakh and going up to Rs 13.98 lakh. This model has shown a year-on-year growth of about 2.14%, indicating its continued popularity, especially after the Creta. In September, the Brezza sold 15,322 units, which is 580 units less than the Creta. However, compared to the same month in 2023, when it sold 15,001 units, this shows a significant increase.

The Brezza is equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and CNG options, both featuring a standard 5-speed manual gearbox. The petrol variant also offers a 6-speed automatic gearbox option, making it versatile for different driving preferences.

Mahindra Scorpio/N sales in September 2024

When discussing the top SUVs, the Mahindra Scorpio N stands out, claiming the third position in popularity. Mahindra's strategy of keeping both the old and new models in their lineup has proven effective, reflected in impressive sales numbers of 14,438 units in September 2024. This marks a notable increase from the same month last year, which recorded 11,846 units, resulting in a year-over-year growth of 21.88%.

The Scorpio N is available with two engine options: a 2.2-litre diesel engine and a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine. Its pricing starts at Rs 13.85 lakh and goes up to Rs 24.54 lakh. This model continues to solidify its place among the top SUVs in India.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx sales in September 2024

The Maruti Fronx is another popular model from the Maruti Suzuki lineup, currently ranking 4th among the top SUVs in India. Its pricing starts at Rs 7.51 lakh and can go up to Rs 12.87 lakh. Interestingly, Toyota has released a rebadged version of this model called the Toyota Taisor, but this hasn’t impacted the Fronx’s popularity, as it achieved impressive sales of 13,874 units in September. This model offers a choice of engines, including a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine, a 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine, and CNG variants that utilize a 2-litre engine. Overall, the Fronx continues to be a strong contender in the market for those looking for top SUV cars in India.

Tata Punch/EV sales in September 2024

In 5th place, we have Tata's popular model, the Tata Punch ICE/EV. Known for its impressive looks and value, it offers a great option for those on a budget. The Punch ICE ranges from Rs 6.13 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, while the Punch EV is priced between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 14.29 lakh. In September 2024, this model achieved impressive sales growth, with 13,711 units sold, a 5.18% increase from last year's September sales of 13,036 units.
