With a total sales number of 18,949 units, the Tata Punch micro-SUV has turned out to be the best-selling SUV in India for the month of May. This small yet butch-looking SUV is a budget vehicle that offers a strong build quality and an affordable price tag. It seems that the new customers prefer to buy the Tata Punch due to its high ground clearance and its affordable variants. Moreover, the availability of CNG powertrains is a boon to customers with high annual running. There is also an option of AMT automatic for the buyers who would prefer to use it mostly within the city.

Hyundai Creta

The Hyundai Creta needs no introduction to the new buyers. One of the most popular SUVs in India, the new Creta is still the undefeated segment king. The Creta brand pulled a total of 14,662 buyers in the month of May 2024. Hyundai updated the Creta earlier this year with an extensive facelift. All thanks to the multiple variants available that offer almost everything to every type of buyer. From an efficient diesel engine to a powerful turbo-petrol, the new Creta has one variant for everyone.

Not far behind is the compact SUV category king, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. With a total of 14,186 units sold in the month of May, it is very close to the Creta in terms of sales. Brezza is known for its reliable petrol engine and cost-effective maintenance. Moreover, the CNG options are very economical for buyers with higher annual use. Maruti also offers a torque converter gearbox that is decently efficient and powerful for quick performance. The overall spacious cabin and comfortable ride quality of the Brezza help in attracting new buyers.

 

Mahindra Scorpio

The Scorpio brand has been an utter favourite among tier-2 and tier-3 city customers. However, the cumulative sales of Scorpio Classic and the new Scorpio N are doing well even in the megacities. Last but not least in the top-5 best-selling SUVs of May is the Maruti Fronx crossover. Based on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the Fronx offers a masculine design appeal and a better-tuned suspension for a comfortable ride. Maruti has closely positioned the Fronx to the Baleno hatchback in terms of pricing. In fact, the Sigma variant of the Fronx has turned out to be a best-seller. Furthermore, the CNG and the automatic variants of the Fronx do not fail to attract a number of buyers. For the month of May, the total sales figure of Fronx stood at 12,681 units.
