The Indian automotive market has seen a paradigm shift of customer preferences. Purchasing power has grown thereby motivating new car buyers to climb up the ladder of vehicle segments. The trend can easily be seen in the monthly sales figures. Another emerging trend in the market is the rise of automatic cars which are growing thanks to the convenience they have to offer. In this article, we share the top 5 best selling automatic cars in July 2024 in India. However, since there is no particular data around the monthly sales of automatic cars, we are picking the top-5 best-selling cars in India that are also available with the automatic transmission option.

Hyundai Creta — 17,350 Units

Hyundai’s latest generation of Creta is doing good when compared to the sales of June 2024. There is a hike in sales figures, maybe due to the sped-up deliveries. Hyundai launched the facelifted version of Creta earlier this year, and ever since, it has been in continuous demand. The Hyundai Creta comes with 3 engine options, all of which are available with automatic transmission options. All thanks to its versatile engine and gearbox options, spacious cabin, and Hyundai’s widespread sales network, the Creta is an all-time favourite among Indians.

Maruti Suzuki Swift — 16,854 Units

Maruti recently launched the fourth generation of Swift in India. It is one of the most popular hatchbacks, and with its newest iteration, it has brought newer features and added safety. Not to mention, the Z12E three-cylinder engine is very fuel efficient and it is also available with an automatic transmission, making it a sweet package for city commuters. The overall design, brand value, reliable engine, and efficient performance are the main reasons behind Swift’s success.

Maruti

Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R — 16,191 Units

Back in the list of best-selling automatic cars in July 2024 is the Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R. The Wagon-R is one of the most favourite family cars in India thanks to its spacious cabin, high brand recall and bulletproof reliability. The Wagon-R is also one of the only few cars in its segment, which offers a choice of two petrol engine options with the choice of both manual and as well as AMT transmission options.

Tata Punch — 16,121 Units

Starting with the chart-topper, the Tata Punch and its electric version, have cumulatively sold 16,121 units in July. The Tata Punch comes with a sole 1.2-litre petrol engine that is mated to a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). The main reason behind the popularity of it is the strong build quality and affordable pricing. Tata offers Punch with a naturally-aspirated petrol engine as well as a CNG engine option. The practicality of Punch, along with its SUV stance, is the main reason behind its sales. Also, the Punch EV offers a good value-for-money to EV buyers thanks to its impressive range and large list of features.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga – 15,701 Units

Maruti’s popular MPV Ertiga has covered nearly 16 thousand sales mark in July. It remains in a continuously high demand due to its practical cabin, reliable engine, and affordable maintenance. The Ertiga comes with a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Maruti also sells it with a CNG engine, that is loved by cab operators, and hence, the sales figures remain high. Not-to-mention, the absence of a direct rival to the Ertiga is also a key factor in its success.
