Looking at the year-over-year sales growth from August 2023 to August 2024, Tata Safari shows the highest percentage increase. However, if we focus on the actual sales numbers rather than percentages, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has experienced the most significant growth in sales. On the other hand, the Maruti Suzuki XL6, which is from the same brand, has seen a 35% decrease in YOY growth. The same pattern is observed with Mahindra models; while the Bolero has enjoyed a 39% increase, the Scorpio has fallen by 29%.

In the top 10 models, the Renault Triber, which is in the last spot, also saw a 17% drop in growth. Overall, despite these fluctuations, the top 10 three-row models continue to hold onto their position in the market.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

At the top of the list is the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, available in four main trims: LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+. The price for this model starts at Rs 8.69 lakh and can go up to Rs 13.03 lakh. If you're considering this model, you have two engine options. The first is a 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology, delivering 103 PS of power and 137 Nm of torque. This engine is available with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Alternatively, there's a CNG powertrain option, which offers 88 PS and 121.5 Nm of torque when running on CNG. In petrol mode, it provides 101 PS and 136 Nm of torque. This option comes with a 5-speed transmission.

Mahindra Scorpio

The Mahindra Scorpio is available at a starting price of Rs 13.86 lakh, going up to Rs 17.41 lakh. It comes equipped with a 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 132 PS and 300 Nm of torque. The vehicle is offered with just one transmission option: a 6-speed manual gearbox. This model is notable for its striking and robust design, which gives it a commanding presence and makes it stand out on the road.

Toyota Innova

The Innova Crysta is available in two seating arrangements: a 7-seater and an 8-seater. While you won’t find a wide range of engine options, the model features a robust 2.4-litre diesel engine. This engine is coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission, providing a reliable and smooth driving experience. With a power output of 150 PS and a torque of 343 Nm, the Innova Crysta is well-equipped to handle various driving conditions comfortably.

Mahindra XUV700

The Mahindra XUV700 is another excellent choice for large families needing plenty of space inside. It offers more engine options compared to the Scorpio, which only has one. You can choose between a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine that delivers 200 PS and 380 Nm of torque, or a 2.2-liter diesel engine that produces up to 185 PS and 450 Nm of torque. Both engines come with a choice of a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission, giving you flexibility in how you drive.

Mahindra Bolero

Mahindra Bolero

The Mahindra Bolero has a long-standing reputation in India, not just in the market but also in the hearts of many Indian families. It's a common sight on the roads, with prices starting at Rs 9.79 lakh and going up to Rs 10.90 lakh, making it a budget-friendly option without being overly expensive. The Bolero features a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 76 PS and 210 Nm of torque, paired with a standard 5-speed manual transmission. While this setup is decent, it's not particularly impressive compared to some rivals. Despite facing stiff competition and the availability of better alternatives, the Bolero continues to hold its ground due to its longstanding presence and loyalty.

Kia Carens

The Kia Carens stands out with its sleek front design, starting at Rs 10.51 lakh, which gives it a premium feel. It offers a variety of powertrain options to suit different preferences. For solid performance, the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. If you’re looking for a more powerful engine, you can choose the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, which comes with either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT gearbox. For those who prefer diesel, there's a 1.5-litre diesel engine available with options for a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Maruti Suzuki XL6

The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is priced between Rs 11.61 lakh and Rs 14.61 lakh. It shares the same engine options as the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. On the other hand, the Ertiga is more affordable, with prices starting at Rs 8.69 lakh and going up to Rs 13.03 lakh. If you're primarily interested in the engine choices and looking for a more budget-friendly option, the Ertiga might be a better choice. It offers similar engine features but at a lower price, which could make it a more appealing option for some buyers.

Toyota Fortuner

Toyota Fortuner

The Toyota Fortuner has been a well-known model in the Indian market since its debut in 2009. It’s recognized for its bold and commanding appearance. What makes the Fortuner stand out is not just its long-standing presence and striking design, but also its powerful engine options. It comes with a choice of a 2.7-litre petrol engine or a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine, with the diesel variant offering an optional 4-wheel drive (4WD). The starting price of the Fortuner is around Rs 33.43 lakh, going up to Rs 51.44 lakh. Because of its higher price range, it might not be the top choice for those looking for a more budget-friendly model.

Tata Safari

The Tata Safari, known for its futuristic look, has come a long way since its debut in 1998. In 2023, it received its biggest update yet, with a major facelift that included significant changes in design, features, and powertrain options. The current model offers a 2-litre diesel engine, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. This setup produces 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque. Although there aren't many different powertrain options, the current setup is still quite impressive. It would be great if there were a few more choices available, but the existing options provide a solid performance.

Renault Triber

The Renault Triber is the second model on Renault's list and stands out as the only 7-seater option among them. It's a great choice for those on a tighter budget, with prices starting at around 6 lakh and going up to 9 lakh. If you have a big family but don't want to spend too much, this model could be just what you need. It features a 1-litre petrol engine, which delivers 72 PS and 96 Nm of torque. You can choose between a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT. The Triber offers a practical solution for families needing extra space without breaking the bank.
