Tata Motors is all-set to introduce its one of the most iconic SUV brand once again, the Sierra. The upcoming Tata Sierra has been confirmed for launch in 2026. This time it’ll make its comeback in an EV avatar. Read below our detailed story to know the top 5 highlights that will make the upcoming Tata Sierra EV unique in its segment.

Design And Updates

Showcased for the first time back in 2020 at the Auto Expo, the Sierra EV attracted everyone’s attention and is one of the most talked about upcoming cars. While it was a concept vehicle with gullwing doors, a more production-closer model was shown at Auto Expo 2023. We expect that the production model will get a similar design with a few changes. The overall silhouette of the Sierra EV looks like an evolved version of the older Sierra. It has the iconic curved rear glass and the flared fender design. The 5-door layout means it’ll be a practical electric car for big families. Also, it’ll be based on a new EV platform that is likely to be shared with JLR’s upcoming architecture for next-gen Velar and Sports SUVs.

Tata Sierra EV Features

Tata cars have evolved to the latest technology, may it be the ICE models or the EVs. The Sierra EV will be a no exception either as it’ll get a unique outlook with features like LED lights, illuminated logo, a huge panoramic sunroof, floating infotainment screen with digital instrument console, and much more. Tata is likely to offer a few segment-first features as well including autonomous assist features for convenience.

Tata Sierra EV Range & Battery

Tata’s brand new Acti.EV architecture made its debut through the Punch EV. This platform is said to house the upcoming EVs as well like the electric Harrier & Safari duo. However, the Sierra will be positioned above the Safari EV and hence is likely to be based on a new, Gen 2 Acti.EV platform. The battery capacity on it could be similar to the upcoming Safari EV but it’ll be tuned for better performance and added range. The expected Sierra EV range will be in the vicinity of 500 km per charge.

Safety Features

Tata is known to produce safest cars in every segment, be it hatchbacks or SUVs. The Sierra EV is also going to offer top-notch safety features and is expected to come equipped with 9 airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, Hill Hold assist features along with a 360-degree parking camera. But, the game changer could be the use of ADAS Level 2 module on the Sierra. This would include safety features like active forward collision warning and assist features, pedestrian safety assist, lane departure and change assist, blind-spot monitoring and assist, adaptive cruise control, and more. Not to mention, the 5-star BNCAP crash test rating will be an icing over the cake.

Tata Sierra EV Price & Rivals

For now, the launch timeline of Sierra is still far away. Tata has confirmed that Tata Sierra EV will debut in the next fiscal year, probably before March 2026. Once launched, it’ll be positioned above the Safari EV and hence its pricing can easily go above Rs 30 lakh mark. Currently this segment is untouched, but in the coming year Mahindra is expected to debut its electric XUV700, which will be Sierra EV’s  primary rival.
