Tata Sierra EV launch confirmed in 2025 – Everything you need to know

It might not be common knowledge for people my age, but the Sierra was Tata Motors’ first-ever car. This also makes it one of the most iconic vehicles in India till date. Tata took it upon itself to relaunch the Sierra brand albeit in a modern avatar, and what better way to do it than going electric. By the way, Tata has also declared in one of its financial meetings that it is planning to launch the new Tata Sierra in India in 2025. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Sierra SUV.

Upcoming Tata Sierra electric SUV

Tata showcased a prototype of the new Tata Sierra EV back at the Delhi Auto Show in 2023, and it took everybody by storm. The concept of the new Sierra looked futuristic while at the same time paying homage to the original SUV that was launched in the early-1990s. 

2025 Tata Sierra design

The prototype models of the upcoming Tata Sierra featured smooth panels and an upright stance, with the rear glass panels resembling the ones seen on the original Tata Sierra. It features a closed front grille along with slim LED DRLs, and a sleek connected light bar at the rear with a rather protruding spoiler. We might get a closer look at a version that’s close to production at the Bharat Mobility Show in January 2025.

New Tata Sierra interior

As showcased on the concept version, the new Tata Sierra will be offered in four and five seater options, with the four-seater one having a lounge-like arrangement at the back. The Sierra has been redesigned to provide a comfortable commuting experience, as exclaimed by one of the lead designers of this upcoming electric SUV. At the front, we’ll get to see a couple of screens, Tata’s two spoke steering wheel with the illuminated logo, and lots of fabric on the dashboard.

Tata Sierra EV launch in India timeline

Tata Motors has confirmed that they will launch the upcoming Sierra EV by the end of 2025, in an electric version. An ICE-powered version shall also make its way to the country at a later date. The Sierra will be Tata’s flagship offering once it is launched, and would likely be priced over Rs 28-30 lakh (ex-showroom).
