

Rumour: Tata Punch EV ACFC variants discontinued

As per a recent report, Tata Motors has discontinued the ACFC variants of the Punch EV, in an effort to streamline the product portfolio. As a result, the Punch EV doesn’t come with a fast AC charger, thereby streamlining the overall product portfolio. Tata Punch EV ACFC variants discontinued
The Tata Punch EV no longer comes with the option of an AC fast charger, which was earlier available in six of its variants. Tata Motors has reportedly discontinued six variants of the Punch EV — Adventure LR ACFC, Adventure S LR ACFC, Empowered LR ACFC, Empowered S LR ACFC, Empowered+ LR ACFC and Empowered+ S LR ACFC.

How will it impact Punch EV buyers?
The discontinuation of the Punch EV ACFC variants will largely impact buyers who have private parking space and require fast home charging. The ACFC variants offered a 7.2kW AC fast charger for an additional amount of Rs 50,000 over the equivalent standard variants. For the additional money, the 7.2kW AC fast charger offered faster charging, saving close to 8.5 hours per charge. The AC fast charger takes 5 hours for a 10-100% charge whereas the standard AC charger takes 13.5 hours for the same.
Tata Punch EV specifications
The Tata Punch EV comes in two battery pack options—a 25kWh and a 35kWh. The base 25kWh battery pack comes with a claimed range of 265km and a front mounted electric motor that produces 82PS of power and 114Nm of torque. The larger 35kWh battery pack comes with a claimed range of 365km on a single charge and a front mounted electric motor that produces 122PS of power and 190Nm of torque. The Tata Punch EV price starts from Rs 9.99 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 13.94 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
