- 1New 45kWh battery pack of the Nexon EV offers prismatic cells
- 2Tata claims realistic driving range between 350km - 370km
- 3Fast charging time for the new battery reduced to 40 minutes
The panoramic sunroof craze has now caught on the bandwagon of small sub 4m crossovers! After the XUV 3XO, the Nexon also joins the party with the introduction of a dual-pane panoramic sunroof in its higher variants. But that’s not the biggest update, since Tata has now introduced a larger 45kWh battery pack to the Nexon EV, thereby extending its driving range even further. Read on to know more about the updated Tata Nexon EV with the larger 45kWh battery pack.
Tata Nexon now gets 45kWh battery pack
While it is yet to be known whether the Nexon MR and LR models will continue as is or not, Tata has introduced a new 45kWh battery pack to the Nexon range. The new battery pack contains 15% better energy density and takes the same amount of space as the smaller 40.5kWh battery pack. Needless to say, it weighs slightly more but compensates that with the claimed range of 489km, which by Tata’s in-house C75 cycle should translate to 350km - 375km driving range for most buyers.

It is worth mentioning that the motor specifications remain the same as before — 145PS and 215Nm of torque. Furthermore, the new battery pack has also bumped up the charging capacity, as the new Nexon EV 45 supports 60kW DC fast charging, thus reducing the charging time from 56 minutes to 40 minutes for a 0-80% charge. While not mentioned explicitly by Tata, we think that these advancements in range, charging and packaging have been achieved with the introduction of prismatic cells, which recently debuted in Tata’s portfolio with the Curvv EV.
