Tata Nexon Diesel DCA Automatic Launch Soon

Tata Motors recently revealed the Curvv coupe SUV in the Indian market, which shares its 2 engine options with the Nexon. However, unlike the Nexon, the Curvv will only offer manual and dual-clutch DCA automatic transmissions, with both petrol and diesel powertrain options. A new leak suggests that the diesel DCA automatic powertrain of the Curvv will soon be offered with the Nexon as well.

Tata Nexon To Get Diesel DCA Automatic Option?

The Tata Nexon is one of the best-selling compact SUVs in India and it is among the few SUVs that also offers the option of a diesel engine, with both manual and AMT-type automatic transmissions. However, the Kia Sonet, which is arguably the most premium in its segment, also offers the diesel engine along with the option of a torque converter automatic transmission. For those who do not know, a torque converter automatic transmission is much superior than an AMT in terms of smoothness and quick shifts.

A new leaked document reveals that the Nexon will soon have the diesel DCA automatic transmission option, carried over from the Curvv. The same DCA automatic is already available with the Nexon petrol alongside the AMT. The dual-clutch DCA automatic transmission should offer faster and smoother shifts over the diesel AMT, albeit at a considerably higher cost. Tata Motors is likely to charge Rs 1.2 lakh extra for the diesel DCA automatic over the diesel manual variants of the Nexon.

Coming to its specifications, the Tata Nexon features a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine. It produces 113PS of power and 260Nm of torque, making it one of the most torquest cars in its segment. It is also the only small-capacity diesel engine currently on sale in India that doesn’t require urea-based emission controlling modules, thereby further reducing the complexity.

Tata Motors has not revealed any details about the launch of the Nexon diesel DCA automatic. Based on the information, we believe that Tata Motors will introduce the Nexon diesel DCA automatic at the launch of the Curvv coupe SUV, which is slated for September 2, 2024. The upcoming Curvv will feature the same turbo petrol and turbo diesel engine options along with a new 1.2-litre Hyperion turbocharged petrol engine with gasoline direct injection.
