Tata Curvv T-GDI Petrol Engine To Be Called Hyperion — All Details

In a recent development, Tata Motors has confirmed a new turbocharged gasoline direct injection (T-GDI) petrol engine for the Curvv and it will be called the Hyperion. Tata Motors took the wraps off of its new generation of turbocharged petrol engines at the 2023 Auto Expo and also revealed the detailed specifications. Tata Curvv Hyperion T-GDI Petrol Engine Confirmed
Revealed first at the Auto Expo 2023, the Tata Curvv will feature the carmaker’s new-gen 1.2-litre T-GDI petrol engine. The new engine boasts advancements over the unit found in the Nexon, while continuing with its 3-cylinder configuration. The new 1.2-litre T-GDI petrol engine, now called the Hyperion, will offer 125 PS of power at 5,000rpm and 225Nm of torque between 1,700rpm and 3,500rpm. The power and torque figures are higher by 5 PS and 55 Nm, respectively, than that of the Tata Nexon turbo petrol.

It is worth mentioning that the same T-GDI petrol engine was also revealed in a lower torque state of tune, producing 200Nm of torque. While Tata Motors has not confirmed, this lower state of tune can be offered with the lower variants of the Tata Curvv as well as in the Tata Nexon in the near future. Furthermore, the engine will come equipped with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Tata Curvv Expected Features
Coming to the features, the new Tata Curvv EV is set to bring a slew of features, a few of which are first in the segment. Speaking of the segment first features first, the Curvv EV is said to offer a powered tailgate and power-adjustable co-passenger seat. In addition, it will offer features such as ambient lighting, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, keyless entry with push-button engine start/tstop, 7 airbags, dual-zone climate control, branded audio system with subwoofer, 360-degree parking camera and level-2 ADAS features.

Tata Curvv India Launch Timeline
Tata Motors has not revealed the launch timeline for the ICE-powered Curvv. What we know so far is that Tata Motors will launch the Curvv EV on August 7, which will be followed by the launch of the Curvv ICE. Tata Motors will showcase the Curvv ICE alongside the Curvv EV, however, the price announcement is likely to take place at a later stage.
