Outline

A month after the launch of the 2024 Tata Curvv EV, Tata Motors has launched the Tata Curvv ICE today. While the new Tata Curvv shares visual similarities with the Tata Curvv EV, there are notable mechanical differences between the two, from the platform to the power output. Here are the top things to know about the new Tata Curvv ICE.

Tata Curvv engine options

Tata Curvv engine options include three choices — two petrol and one diesel. It features Tata’s new Hyperion engine, which is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with direct injection. This new engine from Tata Motors will produce 125PS of power and 225Nm of peak torque. Tata Curvv is the first car to get this engine and it will soon be seen on other models as well. The other petrol engine on offer is the Revotron that is seen on the Tata Nexon. This engine is also a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit that produces 120PS of power and 170Nm of torque. The new 1.5-litre Kyrojet diesel engine is a three-cylinder unit as well, and it produces 118PS of power and 260Nm of torque.

Along with the new engine, the Tata Curvv also features a new transmission — a 7-speed DCT — that is available with all the three engines. Needless to say that all the engines also come paired to a manual transmission, a 6-speed in this case. Tata’s new ATLAS platform underpins the Curvv while the Curvv EV sits on the acti.ev platform.

Design differences

The ICE Tata Curvv has an altered front end design. While the panels remain indistinguishable, the ICE Tata Curvv has a functional grille at the front to assist in cooling the engine and other components under the hood. There are more openings down the front side, adding to the function. There’s a web-like structure with chrome inserts. The Tata Curvv alloy wheels are different from the Tata Curvv EV alloy wheels, and the ones on the ICE Curvv look prettier. Rest of the exterior looks identical to the Tata Curvv EV.

Tata Curvv Interior, safety and features

Just like its electric counterpart, the Tata Curvv is loaded with features. The fully-loaded variants get a panoramic sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, cooled glovebox, 9 speakers, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, Level-2 ADAS, ventilated front seats, and what not. Safety features such as 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, ISOFIX, hill hold control and 3-point seatbelts for all passengers are standard on all variants. It gets a massive boot with a capacity of 500 litres, which can be increased to 973 litres when the rear seats are folded down.
