Outline

While we are nearing the launch of the upcoming Tata Curvv Dark Edition, the spy shots of what’s assumed to be the Tata Curvv CNG have recently surfaced online, hitting towards an imminent launch. Currently, the Curvv is available in petrol, diesel and EV powertrains and is set to be joined by a CNG option too. Read the story to know more about the upcoming Tata Curvv CNG.

Tata Curvv CNG spotted on test

While the spy shots do not reveal any testing equipment to the vehicle, the model captured in the spy shots is said to be the Curvv CNG. The expectations around the Curvv CNG began from the day it was first revealed as a concept, thanks to the CNG button that was placed on the centre console. Once launched, the Curvv CNG will go against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara CNG as well as Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder CNG.

Same powertrain as Nexon

The upcoming Tata Curvv CNG is likely to carry over the same powertrain that’s on offer with the Nexon CNG. Since the lower variants of the Curvv share the same engine as the Nexon, it is obvious that the CNG powertrain will be carried over from the Nexon too. The Nexon’s 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine puts out 100PS of power and 170Nm of torque in the CNG mode, which is channeled to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.

Dual-CNG cylinder configuration

The 2025 Tata Curvv CNG will obviously come with what has now become the signature feature of all Tata CNG cars — a dual CNG cylinder configuration. Tata Motors uses two small CNG cylinders in place of a large single CNG cylinder, thereby ensuring usable boot space. Since the Curvv has an impressive boot space of 500 litres, the CNG model will also offer respectable boot space, which would be a lot more than what’s offered with the Grand Vitara CNG or the Hyryder CNG.

Packed with features

Like we have typically seen in other Tata CNG cars, the carmaker will not skip the good-to-have features for the CNG variants. In typical Tata fashion, the Curvv CNG is likely to be offered in a range of variants, from attractive lower models to feature-packed top trims, the Curvv CNG will cover the needs of every user base. A few highlighting features of the Tata Curvv include panoramic sunroof, powered tail gate, front ventilated seats, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, powered driver’s seat, a digital instrument cluster and a lot more.

Tata Curvv CNG launch soon

Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the Curvv Dark Edition in the Indian market, units of which have already started reaching dealerships. Therefore, the Tata Curvv CNG launch is likely to take place after the announcement of the Curvv Dark. We expect Tata Motors to charge around Rs 1 lakh for the Curvv CNG over the corresponding petrol variants of the Curvv.
