Skoda Octavia diesel to return to India in 2025 — All details here!

Skoda Auto had showcased the latest generation of the Skoda Superb at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Auto Expo in Delhi, and the display car had a diesel powertrain, something which we saw after a gap of a few years. The carmaker had also confirmed that it has plans to relaunch diesel cars in India, starting with the announcement for the Superb. The Czech automaker is also planning to bring back the Skoda Octavia diesel later this year. Here are all the details that we know so far.

Upcoming Skoda Octavia India launch

Over the last two years, the whole bunch of entry-level D-segment sedans has vanished from India, with cars such as the Honda Civic and Skoda Octavia being discontinued due to low demand and stricter regulations. Skoda is mulling to bring back the Octavia in its latest generation, and news is that it is also planning to bring back the Skoda Octavia diesel in the UK-spec model. This has been confirmed on multiple occasions now.

Skoda Octavia diesel launch timeline in India

The carmaker plans to launch the new Skoda Octavia before the festive season of 2025. Skoda also has plans to launch the Skoda Octavia RS in its latest iteration, which was showcased alongside the Skoda Superb diesel at the Auto Expo. The catch is that all these cars would arrive via the CBU route, so don’t expect them to be ‘affordable’.

Skoda Octavia diesel engine specs

The model that will be introduced in India will be the UK-spec model that comes with a 2.0-litre diesel engine with claimed power and torque figures of 150PS and 360Nm. It comes mated to a 7-speed DSG.

Skoda cars in India

The current lineup of Skoda cars in India include three India-specific models — Skoda Kushaq, Skoda Slavia, and Skoda Kylaq — and two global-spec models — Skoda Kodiaq and Skoda Superb. The second generation Skoda Kodiaq India launch is soon going to take place in April 2025, followed by other international models that we spoke of before.
