Skoda Elroq India Launch Soon?

Skoda India is going to catch on the bandwagon of electric cars in India. The Enyaq EV is going to be the all-electric offering from Skoda, with its launch slated for late 2024. However, the Enyaq will cost over 50 lakh owing to the tax impositions in completely built units. The Elroq EV could attract the masses with its affordable pricing. Very little is known about the launch timeline and whether it will be launched on our shores as a CKD or a CBU.

Given the price and segment, Skoda is looking for a local assembly operation for the new Elroq electric compact SUV. Another key highlight about the new Elroq is its distinguished design, since it features Skoda’s new signature design that will be filtered down the future Skoda offerings. The images of the camouflaged pre-production unit hides split LED headlight setup and Skoda’s signature radiator grille. Other key design elements will be revealed at the global debut of the electric compact SUV.

Skoda Elroq Battery, Range And Charging

The new Skoda Elroq will offer four powertrain options at launch — Elroq 50, 60, 85 and 85x. Underpinning the Skoda Elroq will be VW’s Modular Electrification Toolkit (MEB), featuring rear- and all-wheel-drive powertrain options. The base rear-wheel-drive variants will offer a power output of 170PS while the output for the top-spec all-wheel-drive variant will go up to 300PS. Depending on the variant you pick, Skoda will offer three battery capacity options — 55kWh, 63kWh and 82kWh. As per claims by Skoda, the Elroq will offer a certified driving range of over 560km on a single charge. Speaking of charging, the SUV will offer 175kW DC fast charging, enabling it to juice up its battery from 10-80% in under 28 minutes.

Being a Skoda, the Elroq will offer a well appointed cabin with a lot of Simply Clever touches. It is said to offer the internal cubby storage capacity of 48-litres, along with a luggage capacity of 470 litres, which is further expandable to 1,580 litres. Another detail about the Elroq is the QR scanner code in the boot, which upon scanning, shows the features the particular model is equipped with and also the functionality of its key features.
