Toyota launched the Hilux in India back in March 2022. However, the expectations were high and so were its introductory prices. It was launched at a price range of Rs 34-36.80 lakh at the time of the launch. While it is based on a robust platform that is also shared with the Toyota Fortuner, it did not find many buyers. The primary reason for a slow start was the Hilux’s high price and impractical cabin which made it suitable only for the front occupants. The rear seat offers limited space and the bumpy ride quality further hampers the overall experience, especially for family buyers. Moreover, this price range is very close to the Fortuner, an SUV that enjoys a strong brand value in India and offers better comfort as well.

Hence, dealers have struggled to sell the Hilux in India and are offering impressive discounts and offers for new Hilux buyers. As per the recent reports, the latest Toyota Hilux discounts and offers go as high as Rs 13 lakh. Considering the fact that the Hilux is offered in three variants – STD, High, and High AT – this discount makes the Hilux a lot cheaper. The Toyota Hilux price starts from Rs 30.40 lakh for the base, STD variant (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Speaking of the capabilities, the Hilux is a world-renowned brand known for its robust build and superb off-road capabilities. Hilux pickup truck is also loved for its multi-purpose practicality as it has a usable flatbed that offers loads of space and a reliable 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine. It is the same engine as used on the Fortuner, and it is offered with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission option. The only direct rival to the Hilux in India is the Isuzu V-Cross, but it is priced way cheaper than the Hilux.
