Renault Kiger CNG launched in these 5 states — All details inside

As we reported earlier, Renault India has finally introduced a CNG powertrain option with its sub-compact SUV—the Kiger. The Renault Kiger CNG is being offered with a dealer-level CNG kit retrofitment that comes with 3 years of warranty. As a result, it is considerably cheaper than its comparative CNG alternatives. Read on to know more about the Renault Kiger CNG and the states it will initially be available in.

Renault Kiger CNG price and availability

The Renault Kiger CNG has been priced at a premium of Rs 79,500 over the standard model. The carmaker is yet to share the detailed price list of the Kiger CNG and the variants it will be available in. We assume that since it’s a dealer-level fitment, customers will get to spec the CNG kit with any of the variants. However, it is worth mentioning that the Kiger CNG is only available with the petrol manual, that too with the normal petrol engine only. The Kiger turbo manual, CVT and normal petrol AMT variants are not available with the CNG option.

Coming to the Renault Kiger CNG availability, the CNG kits for the Kiger will initially be available in 5 states across India that are Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. As per Renault, these five states represent 65% of the total market and we assume that more states will be included into the plan at a later date. It is worth mentioning that Renault India will offer a 3 year standard warranty with the Kiger CNG that covers 3 years/1,00,000 km, whichever comes first.

The 1.0-litre petrol engine of the Kiger delivers 72PS of power and 96Nm of torque in the standard mode. The Kiger CNG is likely to see a considerable dip in power and torque outputs over that of the standard petrol iteration, however, the carmaker is yet to share the Kiger CNG specifications. Needless to say, it should offer considerably better fuel economy than the Kiger petrol. It would have been interesting to see the option of the Kiger CNG with the turbo petrol engine but that’s not on offer yet. The only sub-compact SUV with a turbo-CNG powertrain present in the market is the Tata Nexon CNG.
