Skoda has marked the end of an era for its iconic Superb model with the launch of a special one-off version: the Superb Sleeper Edition. This new model celebrates the incredible success of the third-generation Superb, which has been the brand's flagship for over two decades and recently replaced with the 4th-gen Superb.

Skoda Superb History

The Superb first appeared in 2001 and quickly set new standards for quality, practicality, and value. The third generation, introduced in 2015, has been especially successful, with more than 860,000 units sold, making it the best-selling version of the Superb. Overall, Skoda has produced around 1.6 million Superbs across all generations.

To honour this success, Skoda UK has commissioned the Superb Sleeper Edition, a special, hand-built model based on the 2016 Superb Estate 2.0TSI 280PS 4x4. Originally the fastest Skoda on the market, this Sleeper Edition has been transformed by RE Performance, the UK engineering team famous for the record-breaking Octavia.

One-Off Skoda Superb Modifications

The Sleeper Edition gets major upgrades, including a boost in engine power from 280PS to an impressive 477PS, and torque rising from 350Nm to 661Nm. These improvements come from a new turbo, an updated fuel system, and better intake and intercooler systems. The car also has a 50mm lower ride height, race-style suspension, and performance brakes with larger discs and upgraded callipers.

Despite these powerful changes, the Sleeper Edition keeps a sleeper exterior. It is painted in Royal Green, a colour introduced in 2023 to celebrate King Charles III's coronation. The interior features Cognac tan leather with contrast stitching and a massage function for the driver's seat.

Inside, the car is packed with luxury and tech. It has three-zone climate control, a heated windscreen, and a heated leather steering wheel. It also includes a Virtual cockpit, Columbus satellite navigation with a 9.2" touchscreen, integrated Wi-Fi, and a high-quality CANTON sound system. Other features include full Matrix LED headlights, Lane Assist, an electric boot with a Virtual Pedal, Park Assist, and a Rear View Parking camera.

With a luggage capacity of 660 litres, which extends to 1,950 litres when the rear seats are folded, the Superb Estate Sleeper Edition offers a great mix of speed and space. This special edition will not be sold to the public but will join Skoda UK's press fleet, celebrating the success of the best-selling Superb iteration for years to come.
