Official Citroen Basalt Production-Spec Images Revealed - Details
- 1Citroen Basalt revealed in a new colour
- 2To be Citroen’s first coupe SUV
- 3Expected to be priced between Rs 12-15 Lakhs
The month of August is set to see the arrival of two new mainstream coupe SUVs in the Indian market. And, Tata and Citroen can endlessly debate which one should get the title for being the first. Keeping that aside, let’s have a look at a couple of pictures that Citroen has revealed of the Basalt, featuring a fresh colour.
Citroen Basalt Design
The Citroen Basalt will be the French marque’s first coupe SUV in India. It gets a muscular look with sharp lines and well-defined surfaces. The roofline of the car makes its way till the boot lid. As mentioned earlier, it gets split-headlights that are connected to the Citroen logo via a double-slat grille, dual-tone alloy wheels, squared-off tail lights and side body cladding. While we’ve already seen the front of the Basalt before, as showcased by Citroen, the brand has chosen not to show us pictures of the front in this particular reveal. Is something going on there? We’ll probably only get to know once Citroen reveals the actual car.

Upcoming Citroen Basalt Powertrain
Citroen hasn’t released any technical specifications of the upcoming coupe SUV yet. But, we expect it to get the Citroen C3 Aircross’ 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, with the choice of a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed torque convertor. This engine produces 110PS of power and a peak torque of 190Nm, when paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox, and 205Nm, when paired to a 6-speed torque converter.
Citroen Basalt Features
Citroen revealed some of the features of the Citroen Basalt via the official teaser that it released a few days ago. These include automatic climate control, front and rear armrests and an LCD instrument cluster. It is also likely to get a 10.2-inch instrument cluster with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and TPMS.
