Delhi, known as the "National Capital Territory of Delhi," "Heart of India," "City of Cities," and "City of Monuments," has now earned another name—the city of pollution. In the rankings for the most polluted air and the worst AQI this year, Delhi tops the list. The government has been taking steps to tackle this issue, with a key focus on vehicle pollution. One of the measures includes banning vehicles that are more than 10 years old if they run on diesel, and more than 15 years old if they run on petrol.

Recently, a new rule was announced by Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa. He stated that vehicles older than 15 years will no longer be allowed to refuel. To enforce this, devices will be installed at fuel stations to identify the age of the vehicles, to make sure that older vehicles cannot get fuel. While the rule is set to take effect from 31st March 2025, it will be a significant step toward reducing pollution caused by outdated vehicles.
