As per a new media report, the Tata Nexon.EV is said to receive a generation change this year. The next-gen Nexon.EV is likely to heavily take influence from the Curvv.EV, which is underpinned by an updated platform. Read on to know more about our thoughts on the next-gen Tata Nexon.EV launch timeline and the expected changes it could boast.
Next-gen Tata Nexon.EV expected details
Tata Motors updated the Nexon and Nexon.EV making some thorough revisions to the design and feature set back in 2023. While Tata only called it a facelift, the changes made to the Nexon and Nexon.EV were enough to be called a generation change. Speaking specifically about the Nexon.EV, it received improved battery packs, Gen-2 electric motor and a thorough design and feature set revision. But soon after the launch of the Nexon.EV, Tata Motors introduced its Acti.EV platform, which currently underpins the Punch.EV and Curvv.EV.
The Nexon.EV, which also happens to be the most popular model under Tata.EV portfolio, is set to receive the advanced EV platform and supporting benefits. Speaking about the benefits in question, the dedicated EV platform brings better torsional stiffness, larger battery pack with prismatic cells, faster charging speeds and future support of technologies via OTA updates.

It is worth noting that Tata Motors has timely updated the Nexon.EV with the same prismatic-cell 55kWh battery pack that’s seen on the Curvv.EV along with a small frontal storage. However, the Curvv.EV offers DC fast charging of up to 70kW whereas the Nexon.EV supports up to 50kW only. Needless to say, the update shall also bring improvements to the real-life driving range through better battery optimisations.
Tata Nexon.EV launch timeline — Speculated
The media report from Team-BHP claims that Tata Motors may launch the new-gen Tata Nexon.EV by Diwali 2025. It remains to be seen what kind of updates Tata Motors bring to the new-gen model. Of course, there will be fresh underpinnings, faster charging and a few new features but will it bring a fresh design, in order to establish a differential between itself and the Curvv.EV? We bet it should. The Curvv.EV range starts where the Nexon.EV range stops. At Rs 22 lakh ex-showroom, the Curvv.EV commands a premium of Rs 5 lakh over the Nexon 55 and fails to justify the steep premium.
