Next-Gen Kia Seltos To Go Hybrid — Will It Launch In India?

According to a news report by South Korean news publication ETNews, Kia is likely to launch the next generation of the Kia Seltos with a hybrid version in August next year. The Seltos has been a great product for Kia in India, playing a key role in establishing the Korean automaker’s presence in the country. The Kia Seltos hybrid is expected to be launched in India too, following its global debut.

First Kia Seltos Hybrid

It is noteworthy that it will be the first time that Kia is adding a hybrid powertrain to the Kia Seltos SUV. The hybrid variants of the Kia Seltos are likely to enter into production by next year and deliveries are expected to begin from ealy 2026.

Kia’s Entry Into The Indian Market

The Seltos is a milestone product for Kia India, as it was the first passenger vehicle that Kia Motors launched in the country, back in 2019. The facelift version of the Kia Seltos, which was launched in July 2023, clocked 1,00,000 bookings in a remarkable span of eight months.

Hyundai Kona’s Hybrid Powertrain

The Kia Seltos hybrid is expected to share its powertrain with the Hyundai Kona. The Hyundai Kona’s hybrid powertrain consists of a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine, paired to a 32kW electric motor and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The combined output of the aforementioned powertrain is 141PS and 265Nm of torque.

Kia Seltos Hybrid India Launch

Owing to the success of the Kia Seltos in the Indian market, Kia India is likely to offer the hybrid powertrain to its Indian customers too. We expect Kia to launch the Kia Seltos Hybrid in India by early 2025. It will go against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
