Outline

The Hyundai Palisade is the South Korean carmaker’s flagship model and it has been perceived really well in the North American market. After receiving a set of small updates, the next-gen Hyundai Palisade was recently spotted on test, carrying design details from the Santa Fe family SUV.

Next-Gen Hyundai Palisade Spotted — What’s New?

The next-gen Hyundai Palisade was recently spotted on test, wearing heavy camouflage in order to hide its new design. However, the small cutouts were enough to reveal the key design details that the updated SUV carries over the outgoing model. While the current Palisade looks handsome with its curvaceous design, the new model features a boxy design, similar to that of the new Santa Fe.

Up front, the new Palisade features a rectangular radiator grille with cylindrical slots, extending the sense of width. What further enhances the visual appeal is the addition of vertically-stacked LED headlights, which are integrated within the front grille. Like the front profile, the rear profile is also boxy and gets vertically stacked lights.

On the inside, while the images do not give a glimpse of its interior, we expect the integration of a curved glass panel containing the large instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system. Seeing the trend of minimalism, Hyundai may also cut down on the use of physical control buttons and replace them with capacitive controls and menus in the infotainment system. Other changes could include a new steering wheel and revised dashboard design.

There is not much clarity on the next-gen Hyundai Palisade engine options. The current Palisade offers a 3.8-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine. However, reports suggest that the new Palisade could use a more powerful 3.5-litre turbocharged V6 petrol engine. Furthermore, Hyundai could also offer a 2.5-litre hybrid powertrain for cost-conscious buyers.

Next-Gen Hyundai Palisade India Launch?

The Hyundai Palisade has been under consideration for India launch for some time now. However, nothing concrete has been claimed either by the carmaker or external sources. Given that the market is shifting towards EVs and hybrids, the full-size Hyundai Palisade SUV makes little sense for the Indian market.
