New Volkswagen Tera SUV revealed in Brazil ahead of official launch — All details!

Volkswagen has taken the wraps off the Tera SUV at a festival in Brazil. While we still do not have detailed specifications of this upcoming SUV, it has been seen without camouflage for the first time in public. Here are all the details that we know so far about the new Volkswagen Tera.

Upcoming Volkswagen Tera 

The Tera is an upcoming Volkswagen SUV in Brazil that has been developed on the same MQB-A0 platform that underpins the new Skoda Kylaq. As per media reports from Brazil, the upcoming Tera SUV will also be powered by the same 1.0-litre TSI motor that does duty on various Volkswagen and Skoda cars in India like the Virtus, Slavia, Taigun, Kushaq, and Kylaq.

VW Tera design 

The Tera takes inspiration from high-end Volkswagen cars such as the Tiguan and the ID.4 electric SUV. It measures over 4 metres in length, though the India-bound version will likely be pushed under 4 metres to gain tax benefits. It gets connected rear lights along with a TERA badging on the boot lid, and the headlamps are connected by a thin bar of chrome. 

Volkswagen Tera interior and features

The dashboard layout of the Tera features a floating touchscreen setup and a digital driver’s display. It gets a three-spoke steering wheel and polygonal air-con vents. The Volkswagen Tera feature list is yet to be revealed.

2025 Volkswagen Tera launch timeline

The Tera is expected to be launched in Brazil sometime this year, with its India launch likely to take place not before 2026. It will go against other sub-4 metre SUVs such as the Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza, Skoda Kylaq, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Venue, and Tata Nexon.
